Bang energy drinks have been all the rave lately. These drinks have been rapidly gaining popularity among people of all ages. These drinks come in a variety of flavors minus the calories and sugar. With its own Pros and Cons, energy drinks are never a good idea.
Nevertheless, people are liking this energy drink since it packs around 300mg caffeine. For its Health Inclined customers, BANG comes with a healthier choice. The Bang Keto Coffee, loaded with whey protein and much needed caffeine for the extra kick is also rising in popularity.
What is Bang Keto Coffee ?
Bang Keto Coffee is a beverage with enough caffeine along with STRAIGHT8 to give you the taste of coffee, but contains a 20 gm of whey protein isolate and mil protein concentrate to provide you instant energy boost.
The drink claims to have milk protein concentrate the body can readily use and enough caffeine to get you through a killer workout. It contains just one gram of sugar and less than 150 calories.
Bang Keto Coffee Flavors
- Birthday cake bash
- Mocha madness
- Heavenly hazelnut
- Chocolate peanut butter blast
- Cookies and cream
Bang Keto Coffee markets itself as a great tasting coffee drink that energizes you while helping you follow ketosis in a variety of flavors. In addition to this the drink is kosher and loaded with STAIGHT 8!
Keto diets have been linked to lower insulin levels, lower blood lipid levels, lower hypertension etc. – all factors that are associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Caffeine dosed at 2.5mg per kg of body weight produced an 88% increase in ketone production. When dosed at 5mg/kg ketone production increased a whopping 116%
Bang Keto Coffee contains 300mg of caffeine and only gm of sugar per serving, this makes it the perfect choice for those on ketosis diet as a great alternative to sugary drinks.
What is STRAIGHT 8
It is an adulterated version of caprylic acid which is a medium chain triglycerides which is found in natural foods like palm, butter, coconut. It comprises of MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides) supplied to the liver that converts into ketones for energy. The advantage Straight 8 has over MCT that it gets absorbed more quickly making ketosis easier.
The best part is that Straight 8 has benefits beyond ketosis, it is great at giving an energy boost prior and during training.
Bang Keto Coffee ingredients
There are a number of ingredients written on the nutrition label. The thing that itches me the most about this is the amount of added chemicals which is more than the amount you would like to consume. Other than that it also contains Whey Protein, Fibre etc.,
This product uses whey protein, which contains a good amount of lactose. Some of the people can be lactose intolerant, so I am personally not a big fan of Bang using Whey protein in their energy drink.
The product also has soluble corn fibres, which have been claimed by researchers to be keto friendly, so I am in favor of this ingredient.
The ingredients on the nutrition label
Coffee( water, coffee, extract), protein blend (Milk Protein Concentrate, whey protein isolate), Soluble corn fibre, Natural and Artificial flavors, cocoa powder (alkali processed), cellulose gel, caprylic Triglycerides (Straight 8),sweet cream, cellulose gum, mono and diglycerides, sodium tripolyphosphate, Carrageenan, Caffeine, 2:1:1, BCAA BLEND, sucralose, sunflower, Lecithin
This list shows that this product is highly processed. Many of these products have been added to increase the shelf life of the product and improve the flavor. People sensitive to MSG, vegans, vegetarians and people with allergies should look up ‘natural flavoring’ since the sources of these flavoring can be glutamates, allergens, animal products etc.
The drink contains controversial artificial sweeteners in high doses. There have been researches regarding usage of sweeteners over a period of long time. Some sweeteners have been linked to cancer and other diseases.
The Protein source is not from natural sources which are a big concern for a lot of people since it is not ideal to get protein only from processed goods.
Is Bang Keto Coffee Good or Bad ?
As mentioned before, energy drinks are rarely a good choice since they add a large concentration of caffeine and sugar to your system in order to ‘alert’ the body, following a brutal energy crash which leaves you feeling low. Although Bang energy drink may be ‘keto friendly’ but it has a lot of artificial ingredients that may cause more harm than good.
You should not expect Bang Keto Coffee to fill you up with protein and fibre as a source of workout energy. Although it contains a decent amount of Vitamins but it is also packed with SUPER CREATINE and BCAAs (which are not so healthy if consumed for a long time) and the quantities in each serving have not been disclosed even by the company itself.
Each Bang Drink comes with a whole list of warnings that do scare me a little. Look at the given list:
Warning mentioned on Bang Keto Coffee
- Not intended for individuals that are under the age of 18.
- Do not use this product if you are pregnant or are nursing.
- Make sure to not consume this product if you are taking any prescription drugs and/or have any underlying medical condition.
- This product contains Caffeine and should not be used with any other caffeine containing products.
- This product is intended to be healthy individuals only.
With so many red flags and gray areas, Bang Keto Coffee drink may not be the best idea. One serving of Bang Keto Coffee contains a whopping amount of 300 mg caffeine, where 400mg is the upper limit of caffeine consumption in a day by a healthy individual.
Chugging an entire can of Bang Keto Coffee quickly may give you a lot of coffee in a little time which is never recommended. A warning on BANG cans detail “too much caffeine may cause nervousness, irritability, induces anxiety, sleeplessness and occasionally rapid heartbeat”.
Caffeine is a big source of energy for gym enthusiasts. It can be extremely attractive for people who believe in intense physical activity. It is true that controlled levels of caffeine helps you delay exhaustion, it also helps you lose fat and restores muscle glycogen levels.
Some studies have also mentioned that dose of caffeine over 200 mg enhances physical performance across a spectrum of exercise modalities. So it can basically help you get that extra push you need during athletic performances. This tells us that a significant amount of caffeine provided that your system handles it well can increase your energy.
Additionally drinks’ nutritional facts state 140 calories and 9 gm of total carbohydrates looks like a very attractive factor. The words like BCAAs, SUPER CREATINE etc. sound like catchy buzzwords and some people may not even care about its presence but one thing is certain that any chemical no matter how many health benefits it claims to provide, is never a good choice in the long run.
Ultimately, Bang Keto Coffee is not recommended as a regular part of your routine, no matter how friendly it looks to the ketosis mindset. Do not develop a habit that is hard to lose in near future. Losing weight with keto is an excellent choice but do not compensate your coffee cravings with Bang Keto Coffee.
